About Onion Tears

Hi guys!

I’m glad you found me here. One of millions of food and travel blogs, I know.

My name is Alyssa and I am an American expat currently located in Nuremberg, Germany where my husband I moved for work back in December 2015. I actually started this blog in February 2015 completely unaware about our future move. The blog started off as a place to share my love for cooking and eating which you can enjoy in my older posts. It has evolved with the addition of travel as we have been doing A LOT of it since we arrived in Germany.

I love, love, love to cook and why this blog started in the first place. Most people hate it but I actually find it relaxing and de-stressing after a long day. I am by no means one of those Instagram-worthy food and travel bloggers. I am extremely messy in the kitchen and a messy kitchen means the meal is good. Or so I say. I try to cook on the the healthier side using whole food ingredients while at home but we tend to indulge during travel (you have all been subjected to these ridiculous food pictures). I am also extremely lucky that my husband willingly does the dishes after I make a big mess. He complains I don’t wash them correctly. Whatever.

I grew up in the Boston, Massachusetts area where my heart will always be and where many of my original posts in 2015 and 2016 took place. In addition to eating, cooking, and travel, I enjoy working out, trying to take pictures, spending time with my husband, watching sports, and occasionally DIY-ing.

Oh and why is this called Onion Tears? Read my first post to find out. I think my friends and family were sick and tired of my food posts.
